Yeah, the worst thing for the Flames in this situation was to have Pittsburgh show enough interest to make an offer. When the player ultimately gets to sign off on the deal it changes the dynamic as he gets to choose exactly where he'll go.
Either way I don't think either return was great, getting a first instead of a conditional first is much better. Today it's all trivial though...time to move on. Another bad trade, by a bad team, who's tended to make bad trades when it involves them trading a good player.
