By being classy and basically letting Iginla make his own deal, they literally let Iginla burn this franchise to the ground on the way out the door. We were hoping that we would get assets that could kick off a rebuild, instead it looks like we got the old hope and prayer. This franchise didn't add anything great or incoming to the prospect base unless that 30th pick yields gold.

I want to see Iginla to win a cup, I think he's a classy guy, but he didn't do any flavors for the Flames today in terms of even leaving us, the fans who have probably spent millions on his jerseys and cheered him every step of the way.

We the fans who lived through the young guns era thought that was bad . . . well children that's going to be a walk in the park compared to what we're going to go through.

I don't know if I have the heart or the patience to live through that level of ineptitude again.

So long Iggy good luck, don't look back.
When Boston traded Joe Thornton a lot of people thought it was a bad trade. Boston used those assets to acquire Andrew Ference. Andrew Ference is not worth Joe Thornton...but Andrew Ference also helped Boston win a cup.

You're right, it is most likely that what Calgary got back in this trade, none of these players will have a career like Iginla's. That doesn't mean they can't develop into solid NHLers and help the Flames win in the future.
