Obviosly, like any player on any team's 1st or 2nd line there will be fans that buy his jersey, in fact probably more in Calgary than in the city that lands him, but to suggest that Iginla is a marketing boon at this stage of his career in a city he has no ties too other than playing there, no history with and, especially in the US, he does not come with his own cup winning history.

If he ended up going to a lousy team with no real franchise player, a Columbus or Florida or a Canadian team (specifically Toronto) I could see the fan base being sold on him, but if we are talking Boston or Chicago he comes in as an older second line player who'll be gone in a few years.
