Normally when a player gets traded at the deadline, his family stays behind until the end of the season, or school year if they have kids. I doubt Mrs. Kiprusoff and little Oskar would be up for moving to a temporary home in another city right now. They'll stay where it is comfortable, at their home in Calgary.
So, if Kiprusoff is playing for the Flames, and he is on the road for most of April, at least when his team comes home, he comes home to his family where he can still be of support. If he is playing elsewhere and his team isn't on the road, he is still away from his family at a time when they need him, even if his work keeps them away from being home 24x7. A little bit over the next month, is better than not at all. Kiprusoff doesn't want a trade because of this? I say be good to your employees and let him have his wish.
Doesn't mean Feaster can't entertain offers, and tell Kipper, "look, this team is willing to give me something good, would you reconsider?".
