A rebuild/re-tool has to happen, but like you, I dont trust our management team to do it. I think their best chance at a successful retool is to keep Iginla, and once again, trade out all the other parts. But, I fear Feaster and Co. arent up to that task either.

Trade Iginla or not, I dont see this team getting any better until we have a new management team in place, sadly. So, I really want Iginla to retire a Flame - at least we'd have that. That said, I totally get it if he wants to move on.
I've seen glimpses of this team being very good. There's been no consistency, and I attribute that to a team adjusting to a new coach & coaching philosophy with a short training camp & a very short season. I'm sure the owners and management see it this way: we have games in hand on most everyone in the race. We're only 5 points out. 7 game home winning streak. Sort out the road record and suddenly we're back in the mix.

For some reason I don't think the owners are inclined to panic as much as some posters on this board do on a regular basis. If they're going to trade Iginla they are absolutely correct to ask for the Moon. If no one meets the asking price then we're still in the mix & haven't sold the heart and soul of the franchise.

The only scenario that would make me happy to see Iginla in another uniform would be one where the other team massively overpays. I want to see Dougie Hamilton in a Flaming C, for example. I can't see that happening any other way than when an Iginla is on the auction block.

Strange and interesting times to be a Flames fan. Anything could happen. We could even make the playoffs!
