Only problem with shipping out a prospect for a roster player is we're overloaded with forwards. We have WAY too much depth on LW & I think Cammy is the only LW we could move. He just doesn't seem to slot in nicely anywhere in the lineup. Cammalleri for Connolly & a 2nd round pick would make the basis for a decent trade. His contract is bad, but he still contributes & is the kind of 'name' player that Toronto likes to acquire. He's enough of a player that T.O. might give up promising defender Jake Gardiner, who has recovered from concussion issues and is putting up solid numbers in the A.
It's been a few years since our latest disastrous blockbuster with Toronto, so why not have another go:
To Toronto: Mike Cammalleri, Blake Comeau, Chris Butler
To Calgary: Tim Connolly, Jake Gardiner & a 2nd round pick
It balances the forward roster, recoups us a 2nd rounder & nets us a solid prospect D-man who has put in 1 really solid NHL season.
