Also, I think perhaps due to Semin's immense skill, and the fact he uses finesse to make his way around the ice, people don't give Semin the credit he deserves defensively. He's not a detriment to the team when he's been +75 throughout his career, whereas Troy Brouwer, a guy one would expect to be a good defensive player with lots of effort, is a career - 12. |
They have played together for what 17 games? Perhaps Semin has turned it around but based on what he has shown through out his career I tend to doubt that.
But at least he has a useless stat like +/- in his favor. My guess is Brouwer wasn;t too much of a detriment while winning the Cup, right around the time Semin would have be doing his normal disappearing act.
