Wow. What a meltdown here. Same song and dance from the same naysayers and doomsday prophets. Please have some perspective.

First game back after a few days off. The team outplayed the Avs, just lost by having a handful of incredibly awful breakdowns. That has always been the problem. Attention to detail.

The notion that Hartley is having the team play run and gun does not
- put a weak backhand through Kipper's 5 hole
- cause Sarich to turn the puck over then the Butler/Stajan/Sarich combo to break down behind the net and leave the guy in the slot wide open
- make Bouw whiff on the game winner and let the Av walk out

Hope this is a joke. 1-2 points behind a bunch of teams with 2-3 games in hand. It is like when everyone was talking about the Flames getting into a playoff seed a couple of years back when they were one point up when the next team had 4 games in hand.

He still doesn't accept that they are out of it. If they score, they are back in it. This will require puck possession. If they don't have the puck, they weren't going to score. 6 guys gives you a better chance than 5. All in.

^^ Agree 100%

Agree with that as well

...
It was there in the third period for the taking, it's not as bad a loss as you're making it out to be.
^^ Yup

They are both making the most of their opportunities. The coach is giving Stajan a chance and he is responding, as he delivered last year when Brent grudgingly gave him top line duties. Bouw has been more assertive. But the problem with Bouw is not what he does right (he does a lot right), but his lapses. Such as....

^^^ This. That was the game winner.

Kipper can't let in the 2nd goal 5 hole. But at the point that it is tied with just a couple of minutes left, Bouw can't whiff and let the guy walk out front. And too little too late, but Kipper did make a heck of a save on a breakaway, then got a piece of the 5th goal with his blocker, with some great lateral movement.

The guys have found a way to put together too many losses. Lapses can be identified and often fixed by a sharp coach. It is only 5 games in. The sky is not falling.
