I'm reading a 1,000-page biography on Hitler now. The man was a master manipulator who was on the scene at the perfect time. the Great Depression, the Versailles treaty, war reparations to pay, a German economy and currency that were in the toiler all conspired to make his rise happen. It was his perfect storm, and he was a great speaker. He had a skilled propaganda minister in Joseph Goebbles at his side. If one of the 44 or so attempts at assassination had succeeded, history would have been very different. This stuff is fascinating.
