It's more that he thinks his loss, pain and anguish is more important than his friends path in life.
If the first few posts were left as that, a story, then it would have been fine, but he jumped on 3 different posters for stating that his friend looks happy and contented, and then proceeded to lay down some sympathy cards about how hard it is to be his friend/family member now that he's changed [for the worse].
It's all terribly selfish and myopic.
