Help settle an argument between me and my gf. She thinks it was offensive to use the word "asian" as a way to describe the sales associate's appearance. I think it's fine, but who the hell knows these days.
For the record, the cashier (also Asian) didn't seem to have a problem with it. In fact, I heard her joke about something like "people are afraid to say... blahblah" (filling in the blanks, I'm assuming the next words were 'he's Asian') and both her and the customer chuckled/giggled and seemed friendly.
Thoughts?

Seems fine to me, not like he referred him as "yellow" or "chink/jap/etc."
No different than saying "European... round glasses" or "Australian... round glasses"
