In exchange the Senators have traded defenceman Ryan Suter, D Josh Gorges, C Travis Zajac, C Tim Connolly, and LW T.J. Galiardi to the Kings.
Los Angeles Kings GM Stealth22 spoke exclusively with TSN just moments ago. "This was a deal that came together very quickly. We needed to boost our top 6 badly, and we were offering Brent Burns in order to do it. We also were looking to move Alex Semin, and Ottawa was looking to move Tim Connolly. These are both skilled guys that could use a change in scenery. Travis Zajac and T.J. Galiardi were two guys that I had my eye on when I first started talking with silentsim, who's the GM in Ottawa. Both are guys that will fit in well in our top 6. We hated to give up Tyler. He is going to be a superstar in this league, and he's still very young. And Ottawa understood that, and they were willing to give up Ryan Suter in order to acquire him."
He continued on to say that Myers and Suter were not the center pieces of the trade. "I asked if they would do the deal without Suter and Myers. He said yes, but he couldn't make it work under the salary cap with the moves that they had made. I said 'Fair enough', and we did the deal. We sincerely believe that this trade makes our hockey club better."
When asked if the L.A. Kings were done making moves, he chuckled and replied, "For now, maybe. But a GM would be lying to you if he ever said every guy on his team was untouchable. Unless of course, you have 23 Sidney Crosby's."

Crazy deal!
At the end- getting 22 y/o Tyler Myers is a great piece. Also getting puck-moving Dman Brent Burns is huge. This gives me 2 bonafide puck moving defensemen who will play BIG minutes.
Alexander Semin is incredibly skilled, and I don't find him too big of a downgrade over Zajac. His motivation has always been questioned, but he will bust it for the Sens. Teddy Purcell is also a great fit on the senator team.
Acquired Kindl as I think he will be a solid depth defensemen for the Sens, and losing Galliardi is OK as we filled his role in a recent acquisition.
Prior to this deal, the Sens made other moves to make this deal possible. We really wanted to improve our Defense, particularly into puck-moving defenseman.
They include:
Brandon Dubinsky+2nd for TJ Oshie and a 4th.
Trading Milan Lucic, Rusty Klesla, and Winnik for Andrew Ladd, Alex Goligoski, and Derek Brassard
Trading Puempel, Blum, and Trevor Lewis for Curtis Glencross, Jordan Leopold, and Brian Boyle.
We think this gives us a formidable crew of puck moving Dmen, with the likes of Myers, Burns, Leopold, Goligoski
We also plan to win games by running 3 competitive lines, rather then loading up one line.
