I think this isn't as true now as it used to be. If you'd asked me 5 years ago I never would have thought I'd be considering buying a brand new car, but I've been watching the used market for a while now, and stuff just isn't coming down fast enough. I wanted an Escape for a long time, but the used ones were barely selling for less than new models. That's great if you're selling, but not so good for buying used.
For example, check these 2 Focus SEL's out. The new one has more options, and the used one has 30,000 miles on it, but the asking prices are only a few thousand apart.

MyFord Touch, as seen in the picture I posted earlier, is only available in the SEL (Which is being phased out in 2013) and Titanium trim levels).
