She would have likely had a strabismus surgery to straighten the eye out. A common procedure at any age. A Muscle problem mostly.
First Lady (from what i gathered) has a refractive lazy eye. It is one eye that was not corrected properly as a child, and therefore the cognitive pathways were not built.
