Sure it gives you a reason to run through it, but it's not fun to grind another character up to the same level, just to check out a new build. At least this way you can't gimp a character, by investing some points early on into useless skills.

Once you turn on elective mode, you see the total variety of skills that this game has to offer. This interchangeable skill mode is miles ahead of the dated Skill Tree system D2 offered.
