Firstly, he is already under contract. Secondly, keeping him is a much-reiterated impossibility, because a) Calgary is already at 50 contracts. Sven's contact would kick in after the ninth game thereby putting them over the limit, and b) He is up under emergency recall parameters, which necessitates that he be sent back to junior when the emergency spot he is occupying is filled by a returning regular player.
