I wouldn't agree. It is a consolation trophy to any club with the standards of expectation like Liverpool. I know as a Man U fan I couldn't care less if they won anything but the League and Champions League. They just use the games as an opportunity to play the bench.
A win over Cardiff ---sorry but really who cares. Win or lose if it was Man U in that same position all I'd be thinking about is the games we blew to not win the League or Champions League. Because that would be the only reason they would have fielded a good enough team to win it.
Consolation trophy is better than nothing I guess but to me for the top clubs it's not that League and Champions League are a priority--they are rather what it's ALL about.
