No one is saying you're going to get shot at a resort just for showing up; but the country's track record is taking a pounding lately, especially since incidents are happening at these resorts. On top of that, it's not just the crime, it's also safety issues in general - that hotel that had that explosion last year is one such incident, and numerous incidences at beaches (both in the media and ones I've seen with my own eyes) are frequent. I'm sure its a combination of human idiocy and hotel procedures, but they do add up. I've also been sick twice at four-star resorts in Mexico from the food, so I have a general distrust going down there.

95 out of a 100 times Mexico is usually safe. But believe it or not, people will not go there because of the safety issue - including some CP'ers like myself.
