You think the PCs would have broken the CA stronghold in Alberta, and to a lesser extent the west?
You think the Liberals wouldn't have won a ton of seats simply because of vote splitting?
Take one look at the 2000 election. Liberals: 41% of the vote, 172 seats.
CA + PC: 38% of the vote: 78 seats.
That is what keeping the Alliance and Tories apart would have caused in 2004. Canada is better off for a united right wing.
