-Brand new sim engine, and ability to jump into a game anytime (not just 1/2/3/5 min to go). The action tracker looks great!
-Be a GM tweaks to trading, rookie salary and growth
-Anticipation AI, meaning players will actually anticipate play and not stand around in the offensive zone.
I'll have to see it, but should these all actually work as intended, this is a huge upgrade from NHL 11. Especially the sim engine.

Realtime physics are intriguing, but this being an introductory year I would think it will probably be pretty buggy. The new sim engine is, again, intriguing. I like the action tracker and whatnot, but I don't want to sit around for 20 minutes watching a game simulate itself. I guess we will see exactly how it is implemented, and it will be nice that if I have a superior team I don't constantly lose to teams with one decent line and a 78 overall goaltender.
Contracts, trading, and rookie growth are tweaked every year, and they still haven't gotten it right. Same goes for AI. I'm not buying their promises any longer, and I'll wait to see the finished product. If Be A GM is as stale as it was this past season, I have no real reason to purchase the game. Be A Pro was something I always wanted in this series, and after 2 (?) years being in the game it is incredibly boring and underwhelming. If all they add is a few new coach tasks and 4 years in the CHL then that is a failure IMO. They also need to make the bonuses and attribute boosts unlockable online or offline. Right now, unless I play online (which I never have) I have to purchase about half of the unlockables. Unacceptable.
If they actually sell the game $10 cheaper than last year, as is currently advertised, that will be a good start I guess.
