I went looking for that thread, but didn't want to bump it!

So I'm thinking about picking up a polarizing filter this weekend, is it bad that I don't have any filters at this point whatsoever? Should I have a basic UV filter just for protection?

I was looking at the Hoya 55 mm Circular Polarizer, and a Hoya 55mm UV HMC Filter as well.
