The 1D is also faster (8.3fps vs 6.5fps), has an SD card slot, and a better viewfinder.

How much is the 1D you're looking at? I'd also consider a 7D if it's in the same price range. I have one and love it. It'll have comparable AF, noise levels and speed. It also does video, if you're into that.

The 1D is $1000, so it's a bit cheaper than the 7D, with 10,000 actuations. Pretty solid deal.

I would take a photo of my camera, but I don't think it has that feature.

So I picked up a Raynox dcr-250 which I am going to couple with my Tamron 90mm to get more magnification for my macro. The Raynox is a great little add on that can give a normal lens the ability to shoot macro. I have read coupling it with a true macro lens can give quite interesting results. I will post some pics when I can.

I ended up going with the 1D mkiin. I love it so far, except the weight. I also have a 17-40 f/4L which is great! When do we start a photo-nerd club and gather in a location to take shots?

I am already part of one such club (outside of CP).

I've thought about organizing a photo walk, but not until things start to turn green. I'm sure we could get a decent group together.

The 17-40 was my first L lens and I love it. I can only imagine how well it does on a full frame camera. I'm anxiously awaiting the 5D mkIII to see if it's worth upgrading to so I can find out.

I'd be interested, depending on the timing

My 1D is only a 1.3x unfortunately, but still a huge difference from 1.6x. It wasn't until the DS series that they became full frame. I have no idea the 5D was coming out with an mkIII, that's exciting!

Maybe in the summer, when all the snow has been banished we can organize something.

I have the Canon EOS 7D

Love it very very much, takes amazing photos in all formats and great HD Video as well.
Have many different lens, but recently bought the LensBaby kits and am having a blast with them.

I know the Tokina 11-16mm is very popular here. They've just announced a new version.

http://www.canonrumors.com/2012/01/t...ens-announced/

I'm in the market for an ultrawide lens. I've rented the Canon 8-15mm fisheye for shooting skateboarding, but it's a stop slower, and even wider than I need. The biggest problem I've had with third party lenses is focusing speed. Canon L series USM lenses focus lightning fast and I'm wondering if the Tokina would keep up, especially when tracking a moving subject.

Wonder how it'll compare to the old one. Hopefully it's better or I can get the old one on clearance.

I just sold my Tokina 11-16mm yesterday.
Talk about good timing.
