Sadly, many people are very casual about owning a pet and are too dumb to realize that in any K9, there is a wild side that never goes away. Some breeds are much more prone than others, and a breed like an Akita is incredibly strong, fast, and can be extremely fierce and violent. I blame the owners 100%, but sadly the dogs will likely pay for the owners stupidity.
I feel so sorry for the couple that was attacked, the physical and emotional scares will haunt them for the rest of their lives.

I agree 100%. Just to add to that, but some breeds (like Akitas) have been genetically engineered through selective breeding over generations to be dangerous. It's true that part of it is training and how the dog is treated, but some breeds simply have a lower margin of error when it comes to raising them because of the physical capabilities and the genetic aspect.
I feel bad that the dogs will have to be destroyed now, but they probably never should have been pets to begin with. Even dog training experts will avoid certain breeds.
