The other thing was, all the little details from books 1-6 that they left out of the movies were all of a sudden important to the plot of book 7. They had to split book 7 into two movies so that they could crowbar in all of the characters, relationships, and details they completely ignored for 6 movies (prime example: "Hi Harry, I'm Bill Weasley!").
I saw Part 2 tonight, and was pretty underwhelmed. At first, it seemed like they were rushing through the first of the movie so that they could get to the Battle of Hogwarts, but then when they got to it, they didn't really do much with it.
I still say that the movies suffered a great deal from not having a completed story to build off of. When they get remade in 50 years or so, they'll be much better off
