That's like saying the X-Men comics were mad for kids, so they must be stupid when they are made nowadays.
You can take good, simple, entertaining ideas, which are entertaining for kids, and still make a good quality movie out of them.
It's an easy out, for a bad movie.
The Transformers Animated movie back in the day was a good film. It had more emotion in 5 minutes, then the entire trilogy of Bay movies.
