Well didn't just make up a number at random.

I went through the list quickly and counted but I didn't check and recheck to ensure that the number was exact.

Would it matter? Are you that interested in my number?

The problem is that when the book is repeatedly referred to as the greatest piece of Am. Lit. of all time I have pretty high expectations. This happened with Lord of the Flies, To Kill a Mockingbird, Brave New World as well. I didn't enjoy any of them and I think expectations were a huge part of that. I actually did really like Gatsby but greatest ever? I'm not sure.

On the other hand Heart of Darkness and 1984 are two of my all time fave novels that did live up to their billing.
