Why should I care that Layton went to a rub & tug 15 years ago? I won't vote for his party because of their disastrous economic policies; what he did in his personal life before he was even involved in politics has no bearing on my voting preference at all.

This and the fact is that this is a pure smear campaign. Basically they've been sitting on this one for weeks and were waiting until it became apparent that he was a legitimate threat.
He was never charged, and his side is that he was there for a legitimate reason. The fact that the police thought that there was more going on there doesn't reflect on him IMO.
Frankly this almost makes me want to vote NDP. I don't think that this has any place in politics, and I would be very interested in knowing which party leaked this and why.
