I suppose physio isn't the obvious answer for some as it is for many, and since your doctors didn't refer you I can understand your situation.

So let me rephrase: I'd recommend trying physio first, especially if you feel skeptical about other treatments. Lateral epicondylitis is fairly common, and I'd be downright surprised if you didn't get relief from physio (unfortunately, yes, that means doing some stretches/icing/heating/exercises on your own).
