The X-Box was quite the revelation in the day. I had a web browser, Linux, emulators, ftp programs etc. The crown jewel in any Xbox owners' collection was the XBMC (X-Box Media Center). You could stream audio, video, pictures all from your PC. It played tons of different formats. If I remember correctly you could even grab the local weather and play the shows saved on your PC Windows Media Center. The only reason I retired it is because it choked on HD files because of hardware limitations. It did things that even modern devices don't do.
It's too bad that the developers of XBMC have stated that they have no plans to port it to the PS3.

Agreed 110%. I actually bought my Xbox 1 AFTER I had owned an Xbox 360 for two years. Had it modded by a guy up in Coventry Hills, it was quite a useful device.
