The chances of the Chiefs winning in SD are very slim. Nothing would please me more, however everything that the Chiefs have struggled with this season will be facing them in SD.
For one they have a tough time winning on the road. They won in Cleveland, kept it close in Indy, blew a big lead in Houston, played undisciplined in Oakland, and got slaughtered in Denver. Facing a red hot Chargers team on the road will be the toughest test for this team all year.
Second, they have a very tough time defending the pass. Good QB's will put up big numbers on this Chiefs secondary. Outside of the Indy game the Chiefs have let QB's carve them up and put points on the board in bunches on the road. Philip Rivers will have a 350 yard, 4 TD game versus the Chiefs at a minimum.
Third, as good as Matt Cassel has been this season. He cannot make a comeback when the Chiefs are down. The Chiefs O-line and Matt Cassel have allowed very few sacks this season. When the team is down however, Matt goes into panic mode and leaves the pocket early allowing himself to get sacked. Its like he cannot function in high pressure situations with the game on the line. He is great when the score is tied, with the lead, or when the other team has the game in hand. When the game is on his shoulders he is terrible.
Considering all three of those things the Chiefs will have a very tough time winning in SD. They need to take care of business with the other remaining five games. Starting this weekend in Seattle.
