I don't think the Chiefs will make the playoffs (I could be wrong) but they have taken significant steps forward this year and there is no reason at all to think that they won't continue to do so.

Another huge impact is the additions of Romeo Crennel and Charlie Wiess. Last season Mr. Wonderful (Todd Haley) thought he could be a rookie head coach along with being the offensive coordinator and quarter backs coach all at once. Now he can just be the head coach and Wiess can design and call plays.
Romeo Crennel has already had a huge impact on this defense. The young experienced players that you mentioned Dis are playing very well under the new coordinator. Add Glen Dorsey to your list of young players with experience.
Another rookie who is turning heads in KC is TE Tony Maeoki. He leads the team in receptions and has two TD receptions so far. His TD catch yesterday is one for the highlight reels. This guy is going to make us forget #88 if he keeps playing at this level.
