Yeah, I think that feeling is very much a perception issue/in one's mind. It's like travelling to a different country/part of town and being colored (? I can't think of the proper wording for the idea I have my head) by comments from friends and such beforehand perhaps.
And to be fair, only time I've been to Saskatoon was for an engineering thingy - I was a little/ lot drunk for a little/lot of the time.
