Been looking at the Kobo lately for my wife. The price at $149 is very attractive.
Another attractive feature is that if supports epub as well as pdf.. To me, epub is great because I think most of the books she gets will be downloaded from the library and I'm assuming that if it has epub software she can do this.
Also, one other nice feature is that it has 1gb of memory (1000 books) and you can insert a sd card for additional memory (up to 4gb more I believe)
Another thing is the 6" screen... a noticeable difference in the screen size compared to a 5".
Basically I think I will get the no bells and whistles Kobo. She already has a Blackberry and she can connect to that via bluetooth (an option that the Kobo has) and of course we also have a laptop to download books onto and transfer via usb to the Kobo.
So for a pure ebook reader, the Kobo is looking very attractive.
P.S. Kobo apparently has released a software update in July that fixes a few problems and improves some other features.
