The real protestors are there saying that there isn't enough being done to alleviate poverty around the world, the need for a better response from our leaders on environmental issues and asking for a "Green New Deal" which includes strong re-regulation of the financial sector. But that doesn't get covered by the news because some asshats want to break stuff and spit on cops.

I bet you will find that the anarchists are protesting for the same reasons as the non violent protestors. They have just chosen to get attention through criminal actions. That is why the regular protestors complain loudly about the police response but, say and do very little about the anarchists.
Why do you think these anarchists stayed far away from the tea party rallies in the States in this past year? After all they were protesting the government just like the G8 protestors. They were angry at the government just like the G8 protestors. The answer I believe was that the anarchists aren't against big government like the tea party is. They want a new world order which is bigger government: they want a socialist government which redistributes wealth. Secondly, I don't think the Tea party protestors would have tolerated the anarchists. They would have cooperated with the police in identifying the anarchists at the very lest. Thats if they didn't remove them themselves.
