Was Benitez an actual elite manager? Or someone living off of his 05 champions league and 06 FA cup victory?
So who's next then? Mourinho was a pipe dream anyhow, and he's gone onto Madrid. Villa have warned Liverpool off Martin O'Neill, but was there more than just rumour there? Will they push on now that the position is vacant?
Now what about the Spanish players? Was there a loyalty to a Spanish manager that won't be there for anyone else? Torres and Reina are the ones obviously of the most concern when it comes to that, with Torres in the lead by a longshot (although Reina is a fantastic keeper). That will worry me until we get votes of confidence from a new manager AND owners group.
I always held the Flames and Liverpool FC at the same plane. Then I went to Anfield, and the Flames have taken second fiddle.
