You're right that people will pump up their own communities. Everyone wants to justify why they're living somewhere.
Calgary's a great city with lots of cool communities. You just need to pick the one that has all the features you need.

It added about 3 minutes. I kind of live in the middle of Rocky Ridge, so it's not all that bad for me (I live in between Rock Valley Drive and the Community Centre).
Absolute pain in the rear end though. MY buddy lives in Rocky Vista and it has absolutely enraged him though. he had immediate access the Crowchild and now he has to drive all the way around. Claims it adds a good 8 minutes to his commute.
Do you know if that is a permanent closure?
