Whether you like it or not, these common values and stories have been shared and passed down from family's and churches for thousands of years.
Now I know the new generation of adults/children are going progressively atheist, and I understand that.
On the other hand, just because these girls are homosexuals shouldn't mean that they don't have the right to partake in prom. But lets look at this from the outside.
What would it be like if they were all over each other on the dancefloor? Myself I would be ready to throw up. There is also a flipside to this, what if they were male?
I say, these girls can be "straight" for one more night.
The whole thing smells of attention.
Besides what other reason would they bring the whole thing to the forefront unless they were planning on getting busy at prom?
They could just go as two girls, and all of this attention could never have happened.
I STILL, don't understand why it has to be such an "event" to come out of the closet.

Here is where your argument falls on its face.
What are gay people supposed to think/feel when they see straight people all over each other on the dance floor? They, I would think, may feel like throwing up. See how that works?
You are taking a position that you are "normal" and they are not, when in reality everyone should be treated equally no matter what their orientation....meaning the only "normal" is what each individual feels.
Its a superiority that is shared by everyone against homosexuality being allowed to become mainstream/accepted by society.
What does anyone sharing their affection for someone else do to your own ability to function as a hetro? It doesn't, and cases like this just show that people with your attitude think its allright to continue to treat those different than them as second class citizens.
Its a shame we still have this bigotry existing in 2010, though I suspect it will never completely go away based on the inability of many to understand that not everyone is biologically create the same way.
