I understand that everyone has different music tastes but you cant argue with the longevity of the Foo Fighters. To me that something that defines musicians. You need to be able to either invent your own type of music or recreate yourself enough to stay relevant but not so much that you lose what made you popular in the first place. There is too much music nowadays that all sounds the same and these people do last long because they keep repeating the same sound that everyone else does. If i turn on vibe i couldn't tell the difference between most of the music. bands like The Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Coldplay, Oasis I think can be considered some of the best bands ever. Maybe not top 10 as was mentioned but probably top 50 which says something considering how many bands/artists have come and gone.
