Not everyone is into the same things when it comes to movies... Maybe some people can't buy into a thinly veiled Native American culture with big blue cats? Maybe the 3-D gives some people a headache. I don't think many people were going in expecting Good Will Hunting out of a James Cameron epic.
Personally, I enjoyed the movie, but was mildly disappointed. I'd go see it again for the effects, but the movie has weak points, and most of these center around the non-visual, so I don't see why it's not fair to talk about these things when it comes to the film.
