So, I've decided to try to put together a last minute trip to India for about 4 or 5 weeks in September/October. Has anyone ever been there on vacation? I'm mostly looking at going to northern India (specifically the far north in Ladakh etc.). Any advice would be great though about must see areas and so on. If I have time I would like to go to Varanasi and definitely Agra (for the Taj Mahal etc.).

India requires a tourist visa but I'm finding the application process to be pretty confusing. The office appears to be in Vancouver but I'm a little unsure about how to go about the process through the mail. Anyone ever done this by post?
