It's the same in Winnipeg. The cans aren't worth anything, so no one has ever gone through our bin as far as I know.

When I first moved from Alberta I was surprised to find out that there were no deposits and somewhat disappointed that I could no longer collect a nice little chunk of change for returning my empties. But now I'm happy to just throw them in the blue bin. One less thing to worry about.
