I don't eat a lot of bread so it needs to last longer. I find if you put it in the fridge, it goes from lasting 3-4 days before tasting stale, to a week or so of edibility.
Peanut butter though, that's just weird. I've had the organic stuff and to me, it tastes like tossed salad á la Gimp... actually last year my aunt was bringing over some stuff to put at my place as they were leaving Palm Springs before I was, and she had some organic peanut butter she HADN'T put in the fridge. I opened it up and the oil had separated and it looked like something you'd extract from the crankcase of a tractor. Mmm mmm.
