this episode cemented in my mind that Sisko was the most badass captain in any of the Star Trek series. the intelligence and reasoning of Picard, the take no **** approach of Kirk, and having a black captain was just plain cool. another episode i really liked from that series was the one where Sisko was a writer in 1940's America, and DS9 was all in his head. loved seeing the racial struggle angle in Star Trek that no other show ever could provide, being that by that time race didn't matter in Star Fleet
as for the new movie, just got back from finally getting a chance to see it and was very impressed. did a great job of reviving the classic franchise and paving a path for them to show entirely new plotlines. i also like the alternate reality explanation vs. destroying the original timeline completely, i hope they have old Spock expand on that a bit in the sequel to appease the hardcore trekkies like Devil'sAdvocate. really looking forward to seeing what direction they want to go in now
