Well it was during October when the economy was crumbling that Harper and his band were saying that the economy was fundamentally sound and there would be no deficit.
I am kind of on the fence about that. On one hand the argument is "No one could've predicted what was coming" so this excuses them. A lot of brilliant people (economically and financially) didn't see this coming.
On the other hand though, these guys are privy to all of the latest information and resources. When they say that everything is fine, people take notice. Part of me thinks that they have a duty to give an honest assessment and not sugar coat things.
