As long as people vote along partisan lines meaningful change will be difficult. When there is a real possibility of voters changing the government, then there is the real possibility of change.

I know this is a federal politics thread, but the issue is even more stark at the provincial level. How worried do you think Stelmach is? How effective are the opposition parties, with little/no possibility to form a government?

How about on the municipal level? There is a lot of griping about Bronco in this forum, but the incumbent always wins in Calgary. Even at the alderman level, in the last 3 or 4 elections I think the number of incumbents who ran and lost could be counted on my finger, and probably on one hand.

If you want meaningful change, you can't expect it to come from the representatives who always retain their positions by doing the same thing.
