Meh, I don't get the big deal. I don't love commercials, and I certainly don't turn up the volume when they come on, I just see them as the price I pay for watching the show (in addition to the price of cable, unfortunately).
You can flip around a lot during commercials, but I'm not sure how that's better... and you might miss your show when it comes back on.

That is me to a tee. I constantly do this. I'll miss half an hour of a movie I was watching because during commercials, I'll flip around and Biker Build Off or something will be on.
