No, it's not really. No idea what your situation is like but like I said, mine were in perfectly. Only reason I had them out was one broke and the other had a decent cavity forming in it and I didn't really use either teeth. When I went to the dentist the first time I did ask about sedation (the type you hear on the radio doesn't involve you being put to sleep like a regular surgery) and my Dentist heavliy advised against it as most dentists don't have a crash cart. Not to mention, the procedure (for me anyways) is so quick and easy that there isn't really any point. She told me that if I wanted to be put under, she would need to call in an anithesiologist (sp?) and that would cost at least a grand, on top of the actual procedure.

Based on what I have read on Sedation Dentists website, you aren't really being "knocked out" instead you are given a bunch of drugs that seem to just stop your brain from recording for an hour or so.

All I took was Adavan for my nerves (HATE Dentists) and I was fine. To be honest, even on that stuff you seem to forget a good chunk of the day. I did.

I guess the main question to ask, other than your gag reflex, does going to the dentist worry you?
