Beer varies so much person to person. I know people who actually think Bud is a good beer but here are a few of my favorites:
Innis and Gunn - only avail in singles at $4 or so per bottle. Oak aged in scotch casks. This is the greatest beer on the planet. But it's not to get drunk off of.
Maudite or La fin du monde or trois pistole : all three are triple fermented meaning they have higher alcohol content (about 8% IIRC). They are made by Sleeman (a sister company called Unibroue) and they are all delicious.
Dab - this one goes by another name too but it says dab on the bottles i think. German, really tasty, better than the heinikens and stellas out there for Euro beers.
Fruili - again only avail in singles and it is kind of a girly beer. Tastes like raspberrys or strawberries i can't remember which. Very tasty for a desert beer.
Big Rock Espresso: This beer is phenomenal especially after a meal with some chocolate. tastes like it sounds, almost tastes like guiness but carbonated more with a less frothy head.
Grolsch : another delicious Euro beer.
Rickards White. Great at the bar with lots of orange.
check out this site for some snobby but extensive opinions. The guy is from Calgary too.
