You sure got the Republicans figured. Amazing that such a hardcore Republican state (federally) would vote for a Democrat in Republican clothing. You nailed them Arizonans!
The reason McCain gets limited support from the base is because he is soft on immigration and supports amnesty. The hardcore Republicans want them all sent packing, and anyone who doesn't hold that belief near and dear to their heart can't be trusted.
Frankly, I think that McCain would be the middling candidate of the three left. I think that he is not string enough to be President. After the way he knuckled under to the Bushies in 2000 to the push-polling scandal, and then crawled into to bed with them less than four years later, in hopes their support would help his Presidental bid, I don't think he's got any resolve left to stand up when it matters. He's also entrenched in the political machinery of Washington and the think tank establishment. IMO, he's way too controllable.
