A personal trainer is a professional.

(Theres good and bad trainers and trainers with different qualifications just like many professions so Im not going to make the arguement that anyone can be a trainer.)

Is $60 to $80 per hour expensive?

I guess it depends on how you look at it.

Who else do you deal with on a regular basis and what do they charge? A mechanic? Your hair stylist? Your accountant? The person who cuts your lawn and shovels your snow?

Whats your health and fitness worth to you? Whats someones time worth who can give you expert advice on these matters?

Some people dont need the motivation of a trainer. Others feel they can get all the info they need from the internet or from friends at the gym. While others feel a trainer gives them value - hence why trainers are charging $60 to $80 or more per hour and continue to exist.

A lot of people have health/wellness accounts as part of their benefits from their employers which can cover a significant percentage of the cost of hiring a trainer.
